The purpose of this guideline is to serve as a description of what is expected of individuals interested in becoming official staff members of #doom3. In addition, this provides an general guideline on attitude, performance, and conduct for current staff members to abide by as each staff member is an active representative of #doom3 and the enterthegame.com network. This does not, however, preempt any other policies or guidelines currently in place as each staff member is expected to abide by this guideline and all of the policies of #doom3 and the enterthegame.com network. Any breaches of conduct by a staff member will be dealt with accordingly.


I. Professionalism

As a staff member, you will conduct yourself in the most professional manner possible. The enterthegame.com network and #doom3 are to be thought of as a business with you as an employee.


II. Task Assignment

As a staff member, you will be assigned varying tasks, determined and assigned by the channel administrator, and you are expected to complete them in a timely manner. If you cannot meet specified deadlines, it will be your responsibility to notify the channel administrator thereof. Provisions may be made for staff members that exhibit exemplary conduct, show willingness to assist with channel responsibilities, or consistently meet required obligations. Provisions may also be made, as needed, for staff members requiring extensions or for emergency situations.


III. Channel Policy

As a staff member, you are expected to treat any idler in #doom3 with the same non-biased respect and courtesy that we expect from them toward us. At no time will you kick or ban any idler simply because you do not like them. Do not abuse your channel operator privileges. You should warn any person who breaks the Terms Of Service first and may kick them only if they continue. Only the channel administrators may ban individuals in violation of channel policies. If you feel that an idler of #doom3 should be banned, contact the channel administrators and give the following information:

 The nick(s) of the user
 The hostmask or ip of that user
 An accurate log of why you feel the user should be banned.


IV. Confidentiality

As a staff member, you will be privy to confidential information shared among staff. You may not discuss any upcoming plans, events, news, or updates with anyone that is not a staff member without approval from the channel administrator. This includes ANY outside party that is not official staff of #doom3. Failure to comply with this policy is grounds for immediate dismissal. Confidential information may come in the form of:

 E-mail
 Discussions in the private, staff channel
 Discussions in private messages with the channel administrators or other staff

The private staff channel is the proper place to discuss confidential staff matters as well a place for you to freely speak about other topics. Do keep in mind that any and all things stated within the private channel are considered confidential and should not be shared with the public.


V. Regulations

As an official staff member, you are bound by the Terms of Service Agreement, Privacy Policy and any other guideline set forth for this channel. You will not participate in any of the following as defined therein:

Spam:  Spam is considered any repeated line of text or spamming multiple channels with advertisements or other needless information. We will not tolerate Spam from channel idlers, nor will we tolerate it from staff members.

Abuse of Staff: The staff of #doom3 are all volunteers dedicating their time and talent to the gaming community and should be treated with respect. Any form of abuse (slander, harassment, etc.) will not be tolerated and will result in an immediate dismissal.

General Channel Disruptions: Channel disruptions include name calling, racist remarks, offensive nicks, repeated cursing, slander of any person or party, arguments, fights, flaming of an individual group, party or religion and any other general annoyance. Channel disruptions will not be tolerated from staff members and is grounds dismissal.

Advertising:  Advertisments include channel invitations to non-Doom III related clan channels, other non-affiliate Doom III channels, non- Doom III clan web site postings, invitations to other IRC networks, and postings to non-Doom III games. Some advertising may be permitted, but only with the permission. You may not use your position as a staff member to advertise your clan's web site, issue channel invitations, or provide links to or promote competing websites, channels, or networks without prior permission from the channel administrator. Advertising within #doom3 will not tolerated and is grounds for dismissal.

Pornography:  At no time will you paste links in #doom3 leading to sites containing adult content such as pornography, nor will you participate in discussions about pornography in #doom3. Discussions in #doom3 are to remain as family oriented and game related as possible. Younger audiences may be in attendance, therefore, adult content will not be tolerated. Participation in these types of discussions will warrant dismissal.

Warez:  Warez is defined as any file, image, or program not offered for public use (ie, free/shareware). The distribution of copyrighted data is illegal and is not permitted within the channel. Any staff member found to post or distribute warez within the channel will be dismissed and reported to the proper authorities.

Intentional Harm:   Intentional harm such as Virii or DDOS that deny service, hurt, impair, or otherwise cause damage to other users are in violation of Title 18, U.S.C. (Part 1, Chapter 47, Section 1030) and the Canadian Criminal Code (Section 342.2) and are not permitted within the channel. Any individuals in violation of these laws will be dismissed from the staff, banned from the channel, and reported to the proper authorities. The #doom3 staff and enterthegame.com Network will cooperate fully with any proven law enforcement agency and will assist in invesitgation and aprehension of a person or persons in violation of these laws. For more information regarding these laws, please contact the FCC or other proper law enforcement agencies.

Other Abuse  Other abuse will be defined as below:

 You many not upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available any content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive,
    harassing, tortuous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable.
 You may not participate in the intentional harm of minors in any way.
 You may not collect, store or distribute personal data about other users.
 You may not "stalk" or otherwise continually harrass individuals.
 You may not interfere with or disrupt this website or its servers, nor may you disobey any regulations of networks connected to this website.
 You may not intentionally or unintentionally violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law.


VI. Misuse of Status

You will in no way use your position as a staff member in #doom3 as a means to gain inside information to better your clan or league. #doom3 is an entity that is to be used for the entire Doom III gaming community and not for the personal gain of its staff members.


VII. Termination

The channel administrator reserves the sole right to terminate your membership as staff at any given time for any (or no) reason. Lack of participation from a staff member of #doom3 is grounds for immediate dismissal. This may include but is not limited to: active participation in staff and public channels, assistance of #doom3 idlers in obtaining requested information, answering questions as needed, and completing assigned tasks. Assisting in web site maintenance; writing column, article, or interviews; match, ladder, and tournament coverage; graphic design or production; or other similar tasks may take the place of channel assistance.


The above is a basic guideline of what will be expected of you as a staff member for #doom3. Should you have any questions or concerns, please voice them to the channel administrator. We are all part of a team and part of something greater than ourselves. Our common goal is to pioneer the way to a united gaming front, improve the gaming community and enhance the overall experience of Doom III. Please present yourself in a courteous and professional manner, and remember, this is supposed to be fun! Be aware, however, that there will be troublemakers and those who will go out of their way to make life difficult. Do not let them encourage a breach of this guideline or of the TOS. Instead, show pride in the fact that you were chosen to be a part of this staff and are an official representative of the channel, as well as ETG.
