Flashlight

The flashlight will be necessary in several parts of the single player game, and will be just as helpful in the multiplayer as well. You cannot use it with a gun, but it can be used as a melee weapon as a last resort.

Fists

Remember smashing zombies in the face with your brass knuckles back in Doom1? Well you can do that to your opponent in D3 as well, and with a special berserk power up, it's one fatal blow.

Chainsaw

Bringing back a favorite melee weapon, there is nothing like cutting your opponent down to size. Not only will this be fun, but I would assume we'll see some interesting frags with it.

Pistol

Your starting weapon in D3, a basic pistol that is similar to a Quake2 pistol only with bullets (no travel lag), instead of lasers. More effective than clubbing your way around. Holds 12 bullets per clip.

Shotgun

A single barrel shotgun with quite a recoil, this will be a weapon of choice for close range combat, providing a powerful punch to any foe. From Quakecon 2003's MP impressions, this also creates quite an effect on the receiver of the blow, such as launching them through sheets of glass. Holds 8 shots per clip.

Machine Gun

A more preferable weapon for ranged combat, the machine gun will be essential at mowing down fast moving opponents with plenty of firepower. The machine gun holds 60 bullets per clip, so there's plenty of action to be had.

Chaingun

The chaingun will be a force to be reckoned with as it always has been. Being able to unload hundreds of rounds into the chests of opponents will be a fragging frenzy. Imagine jumping down into a mess of opponents and mowing them down feverishly. Now that boys and girls is what I call fun. There isn't much known about the chaingun at this moment.

Grenades

From the various D3 trailers, you see the Doom character lobbing a grenade at a zombie. Now we aren't sure whether there will be a grenade launcher like in Quake3, or hand tossed grenades like in Quake2, but they will provide some interesting entertainment as we lob explosives at each others' feet.

Rocket Launcher

This boys and girls is what makes Doom great. Picking up a rocket launcher and sending barrages of rockets into enemy hoards never made you feel better. The rocket launcher in D3's multiplayer will be an exceptional weapon. Not only will it be incredibly powerful, but according to last year's Quakecon attendees, you are able to bounce your enemies into the air and hit them multiple times. Quakeworld anyone? So this will definitely be a weapon worth learning how to use.

Plasma Gun

The plasma gun was a weapon of choice in the earlier of the Doom series and that fact remains in D3. Not only does the plasma gun shoot 50 rapid fire bolts per clip, but with it you can also shoot down rockets and prevent yourself from getting hurt.

BFG 9K

We don't know anything about it, other than it's there, and it will be crazy powerful.

Soul Cube

A secret weapon in the SP realm of D3.
